Government is focusing on ethanol and biofuel to reduce crude oil import dependency: PM Modi

Pune: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government is focusing on increasing ethanol production to reduce the dependency on importing crude oil.

The Prime Minister’s remarks came at the inauguration of the Pune Metro Rail Project and laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple developmental projects in Pune yesterday.

He said, “Pune has developed itself into an education, IT and automobile hub, amid this, we’re working to meet the requirements of the people of Pune. Metro rail will reduce carbon emissions to a larger extent. Pune is known for green fuel, to reduce dependence on crude oil from foreign countries we’re focusing on ethanol production. We’ve established centres for that in Pune which will benefit farmers too.”
