Goa: Congress slams government for failing to revive the Sanjivani sugar mill

Panaji: Goa Congress leader Girish Chodankar criticized the state Government, led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, on Wednesday for its failure to provide relief to sugarcane farmers through the reopening of the Sanjivani sugar mill, reported Daiji World.

Chodankar said, “These days, leaders only speak in ‘numbers’ and attempt to secure votes by disseminating misinformation. They also discuss providing schemes to farmers and working in their interests. However, in Goa, farmers are left with no hope, and hence they are compelled to protest,” referring to the demonstrations by farmers on Tuesday.

Chodankar urged the government to clarify its stance on restarting the Sanjivani mill and provide details about the ‘Expression of Interest’ for establishing an ethanol plant.
