Goa: Truck owners, who transported sugarcane to Laila Sugar Factory, urge government to release their pending cane dues

Sanguem, Goa: The truck owners that have transported the sugarcane of cane growers from Goa to Laila Sugar Factory in Karnataka have urged the government to clear their pending dues.

According to the media report, Francisco Mascarenhas, member of Shetkari Sanghatna from Sanguem said, “A meeting is scheduled at Sanjivani Sugar Factory on Monday to take a final call on this count after discussing the issue with other associations.”

Speaking about Sanjivani Sugar Factory’s future then still there is uncertanity over its functioning. Sugarcane farmers have asked the government to chalk out plans for the factory revival.

Cane growers claim that the closure of the sugar mill will not only affect the them but will also affect the large number of people that depend on this sugar mill including workers, tractor and truck owners, labourers and drivers.
