Government is committed to safeguarding the interests of cane farmers: Punjab CM

Chandigarh: The state government is committed to the welfare of the sugarcane farmers by ensuring that they timely get their cane dues, said Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday, reports Punjab Newsexpress.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Sugarcane Control Board. Addressing the gathering, he said that the state government has increased the price of sugarcane from the existing Rs 360 per quintal to Rs 380 per quintal. With this, the farmers will get an additional Rs 20 per quintal through the State Agreed Price (SAP) of sugarcane compared to that of last year.

During the meeting, he asked the private millers to ensure that they clear the full cane payment. CM asked the millers to ensure that they start purchasing cane in time.
