Government urges mills to furnish actual stock position of sugar as on July 31, 2023

New Delhi: The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution on August 1, 2023 issued a communication to sugar mills, requesting them to furnish actual stock position of sugar prior to the allocation of the sugar quota for September 2023. This step has been taken to ensure data accuracy.

In a letter sent to sugar mills, DFPD said, “Government has launched the integrated Pll portal on National Single Window System (NSWS) for sugar mills for furnishing the information related to cane crushed, sugar production, recovery, cane price payment, stock etc. and the sugar mills are already submitting online Pll information through NSWS portal.
Since the new PII portal was launched in mid of the current sugar season, all data of this season have not been filled up in NSWS portal. In order to maintain the uniformity and ensure the veracity of data that may be required in connection with various policy decisions, sugar mills are requested to furnish the actual stock position of sugar as on 31.07.2023 as per the prescribed format attached at Annexure.”

“The report shall be signed by the Authorized Signatory of the Mill/Society/Company which shall further be duly certified by the officers of Cane Commissioner of the respective State and the same may be furnished to the Directorate through email sostat.dsvo@qov.in at the earliest by 10t August 2023.” the letter further added.

The government emphasized that the provided information is important for the allocation of the sugar quota, and the quota for September 2023 will be released to only those sugar mills which will submit the actual stock certificate duly verified by officers of the respective State Cane Commissioner/Director of Sugar.
