Hardeep Singh Puri discusses policies for 2G ethanol export, diversifying ethanol feedstock and SAF at NBCC meeting

In a National BioFuel Coordination Committee meeting aimed to lay the foundation for NetZero target by 2070, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri discussed policies for CBO, 2G ethanol export, diversifying ethanol feedstock and Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Puri tweeted, “Among key initiatives that came up for discussion in NBCC Meeting were investment of ₹37,500 crore in blending of CBG in CNG & PNG, setting up 750 WasteToWealth CBG Plants by 2028-29 and operationalisation of 100 plants by end of 2023. These measures will reduce the pollution caused by CNG & PNG by 87% and save ₹1,800 crore in Forex spent in importing LNG.”

“Another effort that took off today was to accelerate the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel by Bio-ATF Blending in the country. India will have 1% SAF by 2027 and 2% SAF by 2028. India’s commitment to biofuels and renewables is firm. At Glasgow, PM Modi declared our target of 50% energy from renewables by 2030 and NetZero by 2070. NBCC focused on policy for mandatory CBG blending in transport & domestic sectors,” he further added.
