Haryana: Farmers await cane dues of last season, call mahapanchayat on November 8

Ambala, Haryana: Sugarcane farmers claim they are still awaiting the pending cane arrears of previous season from the Naraingarh sugar mill.

The mill is scheduled to start operations for the next season between November 20 and 25. Whereas farmers demanded to start operations from the second week of November. To decide their future course of action, the farmers have called a mahapanchayat on November 8.

According to the news report published in TribuneIndia.com, Rajiv Sharma, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Charuni) spokesman said, “The mill owes arrears around Rs 19 crore of the previous crushing season. The mill has announced that it will start operations from November 20, but we want operations to start from the second week of November. A mahapanchayat has been called on November 8 to decide the future course of action.”
