Haryana: Palwal sugar mill to produce jaggery

Palwal, Haryana: The state-owned cooperative sugar mill at Palwal has been sanctioned a budget of Rs 27 lakh to set up a plant to produce jaggery and jaggery powder. The mill is expected to start operations from next month.

Naresh Kumar, managing director of the mill, said, “The civil work of the jaggery production unit has started and is expected to start manufacturing jaggery from the middle of next month.”

The mill aims to produce 50 quintals of jaggery per day and will continue operations till the season is on, he said.

The mill began operations from November 1 and has crushed 8 lakh quintal sugarcane so far.

Two more mills located at Meham and Kaithal have been authorized to produce jaggery.
