Heatwave conditions to end across India except in Kerala and Rajasthan: IMD

Heatwave will subside from the country, barring West Rajasthan and Kerala, beginning today (Friday), the India Meteorological Department said on Thursday.

While speaking to ANI on weather update & heatwave conditions, IMD scientist Soma Sen said that intense heat is about to end from the entire country. She further said, “Heatwave is about to end from the entire country. Only in West Rajasthan & Kerala heatwave alert has been issued. Tomorrow, the heatwave will only be present in West Rajasthan. We have issued it with a yellow alert because we don’t have a lot of hope for the impact. Strong moisture flow is coming to the country from the Bay of Bengal, due to which thunderstorm activity is increasing in the country…There will be a possibility of cloud-to-ground lightning in these thunderstorms…”

Giving out thunderstorms and heavy rain warnings for some hilly states and the northeast, the weather department said strong lightning was possible.

“Strong moisture flow is coming to the country from the Bay of Bengal, due to which thunderstorm activity is increasing. There will be a possibility of cloud-to-ground lightning in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam, Meghalaya, and other nearby states,” she said.
