Hike in sugar prices is only solution to resolve issues of millers: Nayakawadi

Walva(Sangli): Hiking the purchase price of sugar is the only option to resolve the issues of sugar millers, said Vaibha Nayakawadi, Chairman of Krantiveer Nagnathanna Nayakawadi Hutatma Sugar Mill. He was speaking at a Roller Poojan function.

Addressing the gathering, he said, “The government should increase the sugar MSP to Rs 3600 per quintal as the cost of production is higher than the selling price of sugar at present. This is creating a problem to pay cane farmers their dues.”

“Centre should make the sugar export policy flexible while rising sugar price. In the upcoming season, sugar production is likely to increase as sugarcane production is also expected to rise,” Nayakawadi said.

Mill has set a target to crush 7 lakh tonne sugarcane and increase ethanol production capacity to 50,000 litres per day from the existing 30,000 litres per day.
