Indonesia to import 150,000 tonnes of white sugar

Jakarta: There is a shortage of essential food items in many countries due to Covid-19. Countries are working to ensure that they should not face a shortage of any item. Therefore they are in the process of collecting them.

Indonesia is also ensuring that they should face no sugar shortage. Therefore issued permits to import 150,000 tonnes of white sugar.

According to the Reuters, Musdhalifah Machmud, a deputy minister at the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs said, “Indonesia has issued import permits for 150,000 tonnes of white sugar.”

The government will be importing sugar through state companies, Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI), Bulog and Perusahaan Perdagangan Indonesia with each importing 50,000 tonnes of sugar.

Like Indonesia, many other countries as well are working to procure sugar to avoid future shortage.
