Instead of closing down mill, state government could focus on increasing sugarcane production in order to make profits: Sudin

Ponda: Controversy over Sanjivani sugar mill is refusing to die down.  Former deputy chief minister and Madkai MLA Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhawalikar has stated that the farmers won’t forgive the government if it fails to restart the Sanjivani Sugar mill. According to the media report, he said instead government should repair and run the mill. He was speaking following the news of the government’s intention to close down the mill.

Sudin said, “Instead of closing down the mill because of loss, the government could focus on increasing sugarcane production in order to make profits.”

Recently, Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat stated, “The announcement made by the Administrator appointed by the BJP government in Goa to permanently close down Sanjeevani Sugar Factory, which was established by the first Chief Minister of Goa Dayanand Bandodkar, is a huge blow to sugarcane farmers in Goa.”

According to the media report, in a press release through the Department of Information and Publicity cleared that the government not taken any decision to close the mill.
