Karnataka will be the top ethanol producer in country: CM

The state government is in the process of granting permission to 60 sugar mills to manufacture ethanol and this will help us to achieve top rank in ethanol production in the country, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

The step taken by the Karnataka government will help the center in achieving the set target of 20 per cent ethanol blending by 2025.

Speaking at a seminar on ‘Ethanol Production in Karnataka’, organized by S Nijalingappa Sugar Institute, Belgavi, and Bquest Consultancy and Engineering Pvt. Ltd, he said that at present 32 sugar mills in the state are producing ethanol and soon another 60 mills will join them.

There is a need to do more research on ethanol production and usage, said Bommai.
