Kerala: Sugarcane sales affected due to Covid-19

Palakkad, Kerala: The sale of sugarcane was badly affected during this Navratri festival due to Covid-19. Usually, the cane crop bein a huge demand during the festival.

According to the media report, as the Navaratri celebrations in temples are restricted amid the pandemic, sugarcane farmers and vendors failed to find a good market. Every year on average 30 load sugarcane is sold during the period but this year hardly 4 to 5 loads were sold during the festival.

The sale of sugarcane was hit in Vaniyamkulam, Chalavara, Kulappully regions in the Palakkad. During the festival period, the sugarcane is purchased to perform puja in offices and houses and keep in front of vehicles.
