Kolhapur region reports sugar recovery rate of 11.70 per cent

Sugarcane crushing season in Maharashtra has entered the final stage and two sugar mills have closed operations till March 6, 2022, both are from the Kolhapur division.

The mills in the state have reported a good recovery rate apart from increasing sugar production. Kolhapur region is on top in the state in terms of recovery rate. Mills have produced 268.02 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 229.14 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.70 per cent.

Recently, Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) has revised its sugar production estimate for 2021-22 Season for Maharashtra as 126 lakh tonnes (after diversion into ethanol), against 117 lakh tonnes estimated earlier.
