Maharashtra: Methane gas leaked at sugar mill

Pune, Maharashtra: Two workers were killed and eight others were injured after methane gas leaked in a sugar mill located in Solapur district during the intervening night of Saturday-Sunday. The incident has been registered with the Mohol police station. According to a media report, methane gas tank fell from the structure holding it, leading to gas leakage at the mill.

As per news report published in IndianExpress.com, according to police, the incident happened in Mohol taluka of Solapur district. Tank suddenly got dislodged from its structure resulting in heavy leakage of methane gas. Ashok Saykar, police inspector of Mohol police station said, “The initial investigation suggests that the tank suddenly fell from the structure holding it that led to heavy leakage of methane gas. We have launched an inquiry and will soon find out if there is negligence behind the incident.”
