Maharashtra: Mills produce 145.18 lakh quintal sugar so far

As many as 151 sugar mills including 74 cooperative and 77 private mills have started cane crushing operations in Maharashtra for the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 145.18 lakh quintal sugar till November 23, 2021. They have crushed 162.06 lakh tonne cane with a recovery rate of 8.96 per cent.

Highest recovery rate has been reported by the sugar mills in the Kolhapur division with above 10 per cent. Along with this, the Kolhapur division has also recorded the highest sugar production in the state in the current season.

According to the sugar commissionerate sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 45.39 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 44.90 lakh tonne sugarcane.

Solapur division is leading in the state with maximum number of sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. 35 sugar mills in Solapur division are operating as of now and have produced 29.47 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 35.77 lakh tonne sugarcane till November 23, 2021 with recovery rate of 8.24 per cent.
