Maharashtra: Mishap in sugar factory; two die

Pune: Tragedy struck a private sugar factory in Daund, approximately 80 km from Pune, as two workers lost their lives on Sunday at around 7 am, reported The Times of India.

The unfortunate incident occurred during the ongoing cooling process in the factory when the workers accidentally fell into a hot water tank, according to the Daund police.

The deceased have been identified as Sandip Gardade (23) from Daund and Ganesh Shinde (23) from Karmala in Solapur district. Sub-Inspector Satish Raut of Daund police said that the incident unfolded when Gardade, engaged in spraying water, lost his balance and fell into one of the tanks. Shinde, who was in proximity, witnessed the mishap and attempted to rescue Gardade but, regrettably, also fell into the hot water tank.

Both were taken out of the tank and brought to a government hospital in Daund where doctors declared them dead. Sub-Inspector Raut stated, “We have registered a case of accidental death, and our investigations are ongoing.”
