Maharashtra Sugar Federation calls meeting with millers to ramp up on sugar exports

Recently the Government of India announced the policy for exports of sugar for the season 2020-21. The industry stakeholders have been awaiting the notification from the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD).

Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Co-Operative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd. (Sakhar Sangh) the apex body of the cooperative sugar millers in Maharashtra conducted a virtual meeting with millers and exporters to discuss the future course of action to accomplish the quota announced by DFPD.

While addressing the meeting Mr. Sanjay Khatal – Managing Director – Maharashtra State Co-operative Sugar Factories Federation Ltd. said that Maharashtra mills need to expedite export contracts. He further discussed the opportunities that millers have for exports and deliberated on the issues that would bring ease to millers for exports.

The meeting was held in presence of Chairman Shri. Jaiprakash Dandegaonkar, various managing directors of mills, representatives of mills and prominent exporters. It ended productively and has left millers quite optimistic on exporting sugar.
