Maharashtra: Sugar mills produce 101.72 lakh tonne sugar till April 4

Pune: Sugar mills in Maharashtra are on the verge of ending the cane crushing season. As per the data released by the sugar commissionerate, 188 sugar mills participated in the cane crushing operations this season and till April 4 they have produced 1017.42 lakh quintal (101.72 lakh tonne) sugar by processing 972.30 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery of 10.46 per cent.

Most of the mills have closed their operations and some mills are at the final phase. In the Kolhapur division, six mills are operating and 31 mills have stopped operations. From the Solapur division, all the 42 sugar mills have stopped operations. Total 108 sugar mills in the state have stopped operations till date.
