Maharashtra: Mills produce more than 250 lakh quintal sugar so far

Only a few sugar mills are left to start crushing operations in Maharashtra. With the commencement of the season, sugar production is also ensuing at full speed.

According to the sugar commissionerate data, till December 7, 2021, 182 sugar mills including 91 cooperative mills and 91 private mills are operating in the state during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 252.63 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 272.6 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.27 per cent.

Solapur division is leading in the state with more number of sugar mills, 43, engaged in crushing operations. Mills have so far produced 56.1 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 66.22 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.47 per cent.

Sugar mills in the Kolhapur division have produced 74.09 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 70.21 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.55 per cent.
