Market jumps as US-Iran tensions subside

Mumbai: Indian stock markets jumped sharply today as US-Iran tension appeared to subside.

Sensex today on January 9 was trading 449.56 points higher at 41,267.30. Similarly Nifty was trading 134.05 points up at 12,159.40.

Similarly, at 10:15 am, Sensex was trading at 41,252.76 points, and Nifty was trading at
12,157.70 points.

SBI, IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, L&T, Axis Bank, Reliance Industries and HDFC twins were the top gainer in the Sensex pack. On the other hand, TCS was the sole stock trading in the red.

On the currency front, the rupee appreciated 22 paise to 71.47 against the US dollar in morning session.
