Mawana sugar mill concludes crushing Season, promises to clear pending cane dues

Meerut: Mawana Sugar Mill, located in Meerut, successfully concluded its crushing season on May 14, by crushing 2 crore 11 lakh quintals of sugarcane, according to a report by Live Hindustan.

During the course of this season, the mill has crushed cane worth a total of Rs 713 crore, and it has already made payments amounting to Rs 523 crore to the cane farmers for their produce. With a firm commitment to fulfilling its obligations, the mill administration has assured that the outstanding cane dues, which amount to Rs 190 crore, will be cleared by August 2023.

The crushing operations commenced on November 5 and continued until May 14.

Pramod Baliyan, the Senior Chief Manager of the mill, emphasized the mill’s dedication to gradually settling all the pending cane dues owed to the farmers. Thus far, the mill has already cleared the dues of the farmers who supplied their cane until March 18. The remaining outstanding dues will be addressed as soon as the mill sells its available sugar stock, which is currently stored in its warehouses.

The completion of the crushing season and the mill’s commitment to resolving the remaining cane dues bring a sense of relief to the cane farmers who have been eagerly awaiting their payments.
