Minister reviews compliance of guidelines issued to protect cane farmers, sugar mill workers from the infection of coronavirus

Lucknow: An important meeting was held today on 27.04.2021 through video conferencing by Hon’ble Minister of Sugar Industry and Cane Development Shri Suresh Rana with Additional Chief Secretary, Sugar Industry and Cane Development Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy and senior officers of the headquarters to protect Cane farmers, departmental personnel and Sugar Mill workers from the infection of coronavirus and to prevent the outbreak of the pandemic.

In the review meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy told that at present, Cane crushing work is being done by about 50 sugar mills in the state. He informed that detailed guidelines have been issued on 05.04.2021 to all Regional and district level departmental officers and sugar mills for prevention of Covid-19 and for safe completion of crushing season 2020-21 and cane survey, Satta demonstration, calendaring, slip issuance work etc. for crushing season 2021-22. Direction have been issued In these guidelines, along with compliance of Covid-19 protocol issued by the government and health department, for proper sanitization, soap-water management and use of masks at the mill-gate and purchasing centers. Along with this direction have also been given to conduct thermal scanning and periodic health tests of the employees and to get proper treatment by isolating them if tested positive for Covid-19. Detailed guidelines have also been given for not allowing crowds gathering at work places, sugar mill gates and purchasing centers, and to sanitize the machinery.

Along with this the instructions have also been given to departmental officers and sugar mills for sanitization of public places, Government offices such as Collectorate, Tehsil, Block, P.H.C. district hospitals, police stations in nearby towns and cities.

The Compliance on the above guidelines was reviewed today by the Hon’ble Cane Minister and all senior officers were directed to ensure the strict compliance of the guidelines, so that sugarcane farmers and workers can be saved from corona pandemic. Instructions has also given by Cane Minister to provide adequate amount of sanitizer, soap-water and masks as per requirement for sugarcane farmers coming for their Cane Supply.

Hon’ble Minister, Sugar Industry and Cane Development U.P. has also reviewed Cane Price Payment On which Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Bhoosreddy has informed that the entire Cane Price Payment of Rs. 35,898.85 crore due for the last crushing season-2019-20 has been made to the sugarcane farmers. Along with this about 61 percent of the Cane Price Payment of current crushing season 2020-21 has also been paid to the farmers. During the meeting Officers were directed by the Hon’ble Minister to speed up the Cane Price Payment.

At the end of the review meeting, Additional Chief Secretary, Shri Sanjay R. Bhoosreddy presented vote of thanks by showing gratitude to Honorable Cane Minister.
