Mishtann Foods to set up ethanol plant in Gujarat

Mishtann Foods (MFL) will set up India’s biggest grain-based ethanol project having a capacity of 1000 KLPD in Gujarat as per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat, reports Business Standard.

The project would cost Rs 2250 crore and will provide 5000 direct and indirect jobs. And it is expected to generate annual revenue of approximate Rs.3500 crore.

The production of ethanol from the plant is likely to start from the second quarter of 2024 and the MFL has initiated the work focusing on the target.

According to the media reports, taking a step in the direction to achieve 25% ethanol blending by 2025, the Centre has so far approved 196 ethanol production projects having the capacity to produce 859 crore litre ethanol using grains since January 2021.
