In compliance with the announcement made in Union Budget 2020-21, Kisan Rail trains were introduced by Indian Railways to enable speedy movement of perishables including fruits, vegetables, meat, poultry, fishery and dairy products from the production of surplus regions to consumption or deficient regions. Kisan Rail services are timetabled as well as demand-based.
As per a press release of the Northern Railways, container loading was 0.61 MT during November 2021, which is 1.67 per cent higher than November 2020 (0.60 MT).
"Petroleum and oil products loading was 0.53 MT in November 2021, which is 60.61 per cent higher than November 2020 (0.33 MT)," the release informed.
"India's merchandise exports in April-November 2021 was USD 262.46 billion, an increase of 50.71 per cent over USD 174.15 billion in April-November 2020 and an increase of 24.29 per cent over USD 211.17 billion in April-November 2019," it further stated.
