Mula sugar mill clears workers, sugarcane farmers pending dues

Ahmednagar: Sugarcane farmers and workers from Newasa taluka are happy as the Mula cooperative sugar mill has transferred around Rs 30 crore on their accounts ahead of the Diwali festival. This includes the interest on fixed deposits, workers’ bonus and salaries.

Mill workers are paid bonus every year before Diwali. This year, the Board of Directors has decided to pay 15 per cent amount as bonus. Around Rs 6 crore will be available to employees through bonus and monthly salary in their bank accounts.

Along with Diwali, sugar season 2019-2020 is round the corner, but few mills in Maharashtra are yet to clear the sugarcane dues. With the pending arrears, it seems this Diwali for cane growers will be faded.
