NSI to organise online expert lecture on “The Sugar Market And Consumption under Covid19”

Kanpur: The effect of Covid-19 can be seen in many industries across the world and the sugar industry has also been a victim to this pandemic. Sugar sales were affected in March and April as sales dropped by one million tonnes due to lockdown situation. International sugar prices have also remained under pressure since the past few months. With this all, the calculation for the sugar industry may not remain the same as earlier predicted before Covid-19. So, to get an overview of the future scenario, National Sugar Institute (NSI), Kanpur, India is organising an online expert lecture.

A lecture on “The Sugar Market and Consumption under Covid-19” will take place on 16th June 2020 at 2.00 PM IST. The registration for the same will close on 14th June 2020.

The expert lecture will be delivered by Mr. Peter De Klerk, Senior Economist at the International Sugar Organization, London, U.K.

About Mr. Peter De Klerk: Mr. Peter De Klerk after completing his graduation from the London School of Economics and Political Science, did his masters from the University of York. He had been a dedicated Senior Analysis in the sugar sector for many large groups viz, ITOCHU Europe PLC, Czarnikow Group Ltd, etc. At present, he is associated with the International Sugar Organization as a Senior Economist. He has been associated with National Sugar Institute, Kanpur, India, earlier also for delivering lectures highlighting the myth and realities associated with sugar consumption.
