Pakistan: Government asks Industries ministry to monitor sugar stocks

Islamabad: Pakistan government has asked the Ministry of Industries and Production to monitor the stocks of sugar, its supply and prices in the domestic markets.

Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue issued the orders during a meeting convened by the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC) on Monday. Several government officers from the various ministries were present in the meeting. The NPMC regularly reviews the prices of essential commodities including sugar.
The NPMC also appreciated the work done by the various ministries to monitor the prices of sugar and ensure that they are under control. The NPMC also asked the concerned ministries to increase their vigil to ensure that the prices remain under control.

“We are taking steps to ensure that the domestic prices of sugar remain under control. We are expecting increase in the sugar production this season,” Shaikh further added.
