Pakistan: Government strict on sugar mills

Sargodha: Like India, sugarcane arrears remain an important issue in Pakistan. In Pakistan, the government seems to be strict about the sugarcane arrears, and the administration has started taking action on the sugar mills.

Government has sealed the sugar mills owned by PMLN leaders Hamza Shehbaz and Salman Shehbaz Shafi and have seized sugar stock over non-payment of the sugarcane grower dues.

The raid was conducted by the district administration team led by additional deputy commissioner (Revenue) Shoaib Ali. The officials raided Al-Arabia Sugar mills located at Shahapur, Sargodha and seized sugar stocks from the godown.

The action was taken after the orders issued by the Cane Commissioner Punjab and deputy commissioner Sargodha Asia Gull. The mills have not paid cane dues of farmers from 2011.
