Pakistan Prime Minister asks authorities to fine sugar mills delaying crushing

Islamabad: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the authorities to take strict action and penalty on sugar mills that are delaying cane crushing. On Thursday, he urged the Sindh government to impose heavy fines on the sugar mills for the offence.

Addressing a meeting on the sugar situation in the country, he said that the sugarcane farmers should not face problems due to the millers.

According to the news report published in Dawn, he said, “Punjab government has passed a law to fine sugar millers for delaying cane crushing. I want a similar penalty to be fixed by Sindh government for the offence

He also reviewed the action taken by the officials against the sugar barons in connection with the recent scams.
