Pakistan: Sugar transport to Sindh, Balochistan banned

Lahore, Pakistan: According to the media report, the federal government has asked Punjab to stop the transport of sugar to Sindh and Balochistan. As per news report published in thenews.com.pk, the government has taken the decision to ban the inter-province movement of sugar to Balochistan despite knowing that the region does not have a single sugar mill and entirely depends on the sugar transported from Punjab.

Asad Gilani, Punjab Food Secretary said that the major sugar supply to Sindh and Balochistan has not been affected and it is around 15 to 20 trucks.

Replying about the lack of sugar in these two provinces he said, “Our focus is on Punjab province and are committed for the welfare of the citizens of Punjab.” Gilani, however, stated that Sindh has more sugar stocks than Punjab.
