Mandya, Karnataka: The Pandavapura Sahakara Sakkare Karkhane (PSSK) will start sugarcane crushing from today. The factory was closed a few years ago due to mounting losses and could not start its operations despite repeated efforts. The government invited tenders from bidders to start the operations and the Bagalkot-based Nirani Sugars bagged the tender. The factory will be on lease for 40 years.

According to the news report published in Starofmysore.com, Nirani Sugars (MRN Group), after bagging the tender, took steps to enhance the crushing capacity of the factory from existing 3,500 tonnes per day to 5,000 tonnes. With all preparations being done, the factory is all set to start the operations from today giving relief to thousands of cane farmers.
