Pending cane arrears results in reduction of cane cultivation area

Kabirdham: The pending cane arrears have upset the sugarcane farmers, therefore they moved to other crops cultivation. It has impacted the cane cultivation in Kabirdham district.

The survey details released by the agricultural department states that during the last crushing season, the cane was grown on 27,458 hectares and this year it is grown on 22580 hectares in the district.

Like many other states, Chhattisgarh is too facing the problem of cane arrears, and farmers are not getting paid on time. Therefore, farmers are switching to other crops than sugarcane.
