Phagwara: Civil administration reopens lock of sugar mill

Phagwara: After a mutual agreement was reached between the state government and protesting sugarcane growers regarding outstanding arrears owed to the farmers, the civil administration opened the locks of the Golden Sandhar Sugar Mill in Phagwara on Friday, reported Tribune India.

Tehsildar Baljinder Singh, in the presence of mill management and farmer representatives, oversaw the unlocking of the Golden Sandhar Sugar Mill. Before the opening, a special prayer ceremony was conducted by Sant Pritam Singh Dameli Wale. Among the dignitaries present were Rana Veer Partap Singh, the Managing Director of the sugar mill, along with mill managers VP Verma and Umesh Sharma. Additionally, farmer leader Balkar Singh Dhingra, representing the Bhartiya Kisan Union Doaba, was in attendance.

Concurrently, maintenance work has commenced at the sugar mill, aimed at restoring its operational status within the next two weeks.
