Previous governments ignored the plights of sugarcane farmers: Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow, Apr 24: Political parties in Uttar Pradesh are in open battleground over cane arrears and leaving no stone unturned to attack each other.

Slamming previous SP-BSP governments, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath claimed they ignored the plights of farmers.

Addressing the election gatherings in Bijnor, Farukkhabad and Kanauj, CM Yogi said, “We had promised to clear dues of Sugarcane farmers, and we kept our promise while previous SP-BSP governments ignored plights of farmers.”

Previously he had also claimed that the previous governments did not pay the sugarcane dues of six years. “After the formation of the BJP government, we paid Rs 64 thousand crores to the farmers in our two years tenure,” he said.

Yogi assured that sugarcane farmers would be paid this season too.

Slamming opposition parties, CM Yogi said that Congress supported ‘anti-national’ elements in its manifesto while SP-BSP governments were known for corruption. He said time has ripe to vote out SP-BSP and Congress for better development of the country.
