Prof. Narendra Mohan felicitated for efforts in converting Indian sugar industry into hub of clean, green and renewable energy

In recognition to the innovative technologies developed and efforts made in converting Indian Sugar Industry into a hub of clean, green and renewable energy, Prof. Narendra Mohan, Director, National Sugar Institute was felicitated at the Conference on Integrated Strategy for Green Renewable Energy held at Pune by Shri Sharad Pawar, Member of Parliament in the presence of Shri Dinesh Jagdale, Joint Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Government of India.

As a result of the business model suggested by Prof. Mohan which resulted in balancing sugar demand supply and production of bio-electricity from bagasse, ethanol both from molasses and juice, compressed bio-gas from filter cake, the viability of the sugar industry has improved a lot, said Mr. Sanjay Khatal, President, Cogeneration Association of India.
