Punjab govt asks farmers their suggestions before finalizing the agriculture policy

Ludhiana: The Punjab government is setting up a new agriculture policy and has asked sugarcane and other farmers to give their suggestions before finalising it, said Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, reports The New Indian Express.

The new policy will be released on June 30, he said.

He was speaking while addressing the second Sarkar Kisan milni at the PAU grounds in Ludhiana.

During the programme, he visited the stalls of sugarcane and heard their grievances and assured them to address them as early as possible.

He urged the farmers to come out of the wheat-paddy cycle and focus on sugarcane cultivation and assured them that the government will stand by them if they face any problem in selling their produce.
