Phagwara: The second meeting of the screening committee here where sugarcane crushing and payment to farmers till December was reviewed, reports Tribune India.
The meeting was headed by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
Sugar mills have so far produced 94,551 quintals of sugar by crushing 1,06,5400 quintals of sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.44 till December 26, said Amardeep Singh Thind, SDM Phagwara.
The mills were supposed to clear Rs 3,509.84 lakh to the farmers but have paid Rs 1,362.39 lakh. The mills produced 22,49,000 units of electricity during this period. Several government officials and the representatives of the sugar mills attended the meeting.
