Punjab: Wheat procurement to end on May 25

Amritsar, Punjab: Around 7.35 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of wheat has been procured ahead of the last day of the procurement day which is May 25, reports Tribune India.

As the wheat harvesting season is nearing its end, less amount of wheat is arriving at the market, said the District Mandi Board officials. On Wednesday, around 350 MT of crop arrived in the grain markets of the district.

Government agencies have procured 6.86 lakh MT of wheat so far while the private buyers have purchased 49,167 MT wheat, stated the Mandi Board officials.

Harvesting of wheat is over and now farmers are preparing for the next crop, said Chief Agriculture Officer Jatinder Singh Gill.
