Raw sugar hits fresh one-month high

London: On Monday, ICE witnessed raw sugar futures soaring to a one-month high, driven by persistent concerns among investors regarding potential supply shortages caused by adverse weather conditions, reports Reuters.

The October raw sugar was up by 0.6% to 25.15 cents per lb at 0931 GMT which is the highest since June 22 at 25.16.

Dealers are concerned over the tight supply of sweetener due to unpredicted monsoon in India and heat wave and early rains in Brazil that has affected sugar production.

October white sugar was up 0.2% to $703 a metric tonne.
