Season 2021-22: Maharashtra produces 117 lakh tonnes of sugar so far

Sugar mills in Maharashtra are closing their operations as the season has entered in the last leg.

A total of 27 sugar mills including 21 from the Kolhapur division, one each from Aurangabad and Nagpur, and four from the Solapur division have closed their operations till March 29, 2022.

According to the data released by the sugar commissionerate, a total of 197 sugar mills, including 98 from the cooperative sector and 99 from the private, have produced 1175.99 lakh quintal sugar (117 lakh tonnes) by crushing 1131.91 lakh tonnes of sugarcane with the recovery of 10.39 per cent.
