Kagal: Continuing the tradition of paying more than FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price), Sar Senapati Santaji Ghropade Sugar mill has paid Rs 100 per tonne more than FRP, said, MLA Hasan Mushrif.
Addressing the gathering, he said, “We have always paid a higher rate than the FRP fixed by the government. During last season, Bidri sugar mill paid Rs 3000 per tonne, and Hamidwada sugar mill paid Rs 2900 per tonne. We are transferring Rs 50 per tonne to the account of cane producers which makes our rate also Rs 2900 per tonne. So, we are paying Rs 100 more than FRP.”
In the month of July, Central government kept FRP of sugarcane unchanged at Rs 275 per quintal for a basic recovery rate of 10 per cent as sugar mills in India claimed that they are finding it difficult to pay FRP of sugarcane as the average production cost of sugar is 35 to 36 rupees per kg as against the MSP of sugar 31 rupees per kg.
