South African sugar company offers assistance to Fiji’s sugar industry for growth

Fiji: In an effort to enhance local sugar production, Ubombo Sugar Limited, a company based in South Africa, has extended an offer to share its technical expertise with Fiji’s sugar industry, as reported by Fbcnews.

A delegation led by Sugar Minister Charan Jeath Singh recently met with executives from Eswatini, a private company renowned for its production of raw and refined sugar. With an annual sugar production of approximately 300,000 tons, Eswatini also markets and distributes an additional 730,000 tons of sugar produced by itself and two other companies.

Furthermore, Eswatini has achieved self-sufficiency in energy production by utilizing bio-renewable resources. The company generates sufficient energy to meet its own requirements and contributes to the national grid on a commercial scale.
