“SP, BSP led-governments auctioned sugar mills at throwaway prices”

Gorakhpur, Mar 27: Controversy over sugar crisis in Uttar Pradesh is refusing to die down. As Lok Sabha election is round the corner, politics over sugarcane arrears has gained traction once again. Politicians in the state are leaving no stone unturned to launch an attack to the oppositions.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday slammed previous SP, BSP led-governments and accused them to auction sugar mills at throwaway prices making cane farmers bankrupt. Yogi also claimed his government had cleared the pending dues of Rs 57,800 crore.

In a veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi, Yogi said that Congress president should express his stand on terrorism as his party’s candidate was seen shouting slogans in favour of Pakistan in Kashmir.

‘If the charges are true Rahul Gandhi should ask for apology from the country,’ Yogi said while addressing BJP’s Vijay Sankalp rally here.

The Uttar pradesh Chief minister further said, ‘Congress national president announced Minimum Guarantee Scheme of Rs 72,000 for BPL families calling it will be a surgical strike on their poverty. This means that Congress admits that the slogan of ‘Garibi hatao’ given by Rahul’s Grand mother almost 40 years back was just a joke and has failed to eradicate poverty.’

The Prime Minister has already provided health insurance of Rs five lakh to every poor family member, Rs 51,000 for every girl under Mukhyamantri Samoohik Vivah Yojana, Rs. 2.5 lakhs for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (urban) and Rs 20,000 for toilet construction and Rs 1.2 lakh for PMAY (rural), he informed.

‘In last 60 years Congress regimes could give gas connection to 1.3 crore people but the Modi-led government has provided connections to 13 crore people in just five years,’ Mr Yogi stated.

Mr Modi had laid the foundation of development in 2014 and he intends to take it forward with the same enthusiasm in 2019, he further said.

‘PM is fulfilling the dreams of the freedom fighters,” he further stated.

Taking a jibe at Rahul and Priyanka, Mr Yogi said that some people remember God and start temple hopping only during election time. They sit in temples in the manner of offering namaz.

In connection of construction of Ram Temple, the Chief Minister said SP, BSP and Congress are responsible for the delay in the construction.

‘The parties have lined up advocates in order to create hindrance in Supreme Court hearing. Congress leader Kapil Sibal had filed an appeal in the apex court stating that the hearing should not begin before 2019,’ Mr Yogi added.
