MLA Sudin Dhavalikar hopes government will not allow closure of Sanjivani sugar mill

Ponda: Still there is uncertainty over the functioning of Sanjivani sugar mill. Former PWD Minister and Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar said that to protect the interest of sugarcane farmers, government should run the sugar mill.

He said, “I have raised the issue several times in the state assembly. The sugar mill should start operations for season 2020-21 which is nearing and I feel sad that the government has still not found out a solution on the issue. I hope that the government will never allow closure of the mil.”

According to the reports, the government will soon float a tender for appointing a consultant to prepare a feasibility report. Govind Gaude, minister for cooperation said the focus will be on finance and sugarcane supply. He had recently stated that, “I am not in support of closing down this mill as livelihood of many families is depended on the same.”
