Sugar exports rise in Brazil

Sao Paulo, Brazil: According to the government trade body Secex, the country has recorded a significant increase in sugar exports in September this year. Secex stated that Brazil’s export increased to 3.62 million tonnes in September as against 1.71 million tonnes during September last year.

After coronavirus impacted the ethanol industry, sugar mills in Brazil are diverting more cane towards sugar production. Due to which, sugar output increased massively in the country. Sugar production is expected to increase by 32 per cent to 39.33 million tonnes in season 2020-21 (April-March).
