Sugar mills in Maharashtra produce 492 lakh quintal sugar till January 4

Sugarcane crushing operations are at a peak in Maharashtra with around 189 sugar mills participating in the season. The mills have produced 492.97 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 505.91 lakh tonnes sugarcane with a recovery rate of 9.74 per cent.

Kolhapur division has surpassed the recovery rate of 11% in the New Year. Apart from this, the Kolhapur division is also leading in the state in terms of sugar production. The mills have produced 134.84 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 121.76 lakh tonnes sugarcane with a recovery rate of 11.07 per cent.

Solapur division is leading in the state in terms of maximum (44) sugar mills operating during the ongoing crushing season. The mills have produced 106.42 lakh quintal sugar by crushing 120.67 lakh tonnes sugarcane with a recovery rate of 8.82 per cent.
