Mandya: Sugar season comes to an end, but yet many sugar mills in Mandya district, Karnataka have not cleared pending arrears. Taking a note of it, Deputy Commissioner P.C. Jaffer has asked those sugar mills to clear dues of sugarcane farmers before June 15.

In this regard, Mr. Jaffer had called for a meeting of sugar mills representatives at his office on Tuesday and strictly asked them to adhere to the instructions.

He asked Coromandel Sugars to pay dues before May 18 and directed Chamundeshwari Sugars to clear dues by June 15. The officer instructed NSL Sugars to clear the dues before May 31.

If sugar mills fail to pay the arrears, they are likely to face action.

The rule mandates that amount should be deposited to the farmers’ bank accounts within 14 days after the sugarcane harvest is handed over to the factory owners, but millers failed to do so.
