Sugar output in Maharashtra crosses 103 lakh tonne

Pune: Sugar output in Maharashtra has crossed 103 lakh tonnes in the ongoing crushing season. According to the state sugar commissionerate 118 sugar mills have stopped operations after completing cane crushing till April 13.

The sugar mills in the state have produced 1037.08 lakh quintal (103.70 lakh tonnes) sugar by crushing 989.91 lakh tonne sugarcane with a recovery rate of 10.48 per cent.

According to the state sugar commissionerate 43 sugar mills from the Solapur division, 35 mills from Kolhapur, 15 mills from Nanded, 12 mills from Pune, 7 mills from Ahmednagar, 4 mills from Aurangabad, 2 mills from Amaravati and 1 mill from Nagpur have ended the crushing season.
